Gruffi Gummi

                Gruffi is the leader of Gummi Glen and a little older than Ursa, around his mid thirties by human standards. A take-control type

 of bear, Gruffi's bossiness can often get him and the Glens into trouble but when a situation arises where a leader is

needed, Gruffi is turned to immediately. The Glens know that no matter how annoying and even cruel that his

 comments can get, inside he hides a caring and great leader that genuinely tries whatever is best for his clan.

                        Gruffi is not the type to reveal much a emotion, much like Ursa. However, if Gruffi has a best friend, it's Zummi. Although the

             two bicker constantly, the relationship is often seen as a brother type friendship.   In A Gummi is a Gummi's Best Friend,

                        when Gruffi believes that Zummi has turned himself to stone, he risks his life to save it from Lady Bane. When he finds out that

            Zummi was fine all along, he puts up a hard face of anger and embarrassment but inwardly he is relieved. Although Gruffi

does not reveal it a lot, if one looks through the physical appearance, you can see that he cares.

                                    Gruffi is the leader of the Glens and a planner. He is known for getting his clan out of sticky situations. Gruffi is stern and strict

                              and very disciplinary about sticking to the 'Gummi Way.' Being a leader, Gruffi possesses many strategic skills that have helped the

                         Glens on more than one occasion. When faced with disaster, Gruffi is not the type to panic, although he will be extremely stern

                            and maybe even abnormally stubborn. At times, the others see him as 'a pint-sized dictator.'  But he can always get the job done,

 even if he does not have the best social skills.

                                Gruffi is the personification of Mr. Fixit. His hobbies are fixing and making things. If anything in the Glen is broken, be it

                                 plumbing or even busted bagpipes, Gruffi's the Glen to call. However, if he is put out of his element, as was the case in My Gummi

                                Lies Over the Ocean, he finds himself lost and unable to determine what to do. He has to have familiar territory to be productive.

                           Without it, he feels without the ability to change or take charge of a situation which makes him feel helpless.

                            Gruffi is a stickler for the Gummi Way. There can be no exceptions. If you are a Gummi, you must celebrate the Gummi

                    traditions. This leads to tensions between Gruffi and Sunni, who does not always like to participate. Gruffi is very proud

                    of being a Gummi and is not shy about declaring it or insisting that his clan take pride in it as well. That is one area, that

as shown in Let Sleeping Giants Lie, Gruffi does not show leniency.

                                Gruffi is a very developed character. He has a split persona in a way. He is very hard, stubborn and unyielding. However,

                                        in a few episodes, you can see him crack, particularly  around the cubs, mostly Sunni. They, in a few senses, have the Glen leader

                                        wrapped around their finger. Gruffi puts up a harsh face but inwardly, he's a big marshmallow. Not that he will ever admit such a

 thing....

                                Gruffi's relationship with Ursa Barbic is quite interesting. The two leaders are very much alike, almost eerily similar in

                             personality. Both are stubborn and hardheaded. But the two fight constantly. They each have their own beliefs and are 

                    unwilling to yield. The two seem to hate each other at times, but inwardly they could make an unbeaten team....

if they could only agree.
