Gusto Gummi
Gusto, or Augustus Gummi, is the loner. Being a little older than Tummi, around the age of twenty-one, Gusto personifies
creative energy. Preferring to live outside the Glen, this dreamer Gummi is known for his odd flights of inspiration. However,
while on the outside he can seem flighty and maybe even a little obsessive, he has a good heart. Art is his true passion but because
of that, he sees deeper into people and scenes than many see. The gift of a creative mind...
Gusto does not have a true best friend among the gummies, although he and Cubbi are the closest. Cubbi, an admirer of
Gusto's carefree attitude, inadvertently taught the carefree adult that while he is a favorite of the cubs, there are times he needs
to put down his foot. Unfortunately, because Gusto so rarely takes a disciplinary attitude, Cubbi does not usually take his
warnings seriously, leading Gusto to have to save his little friend's fur. Usually a supporter of the cubs, Gusto is regarded by
the cubs as a playmate and by adults as irresponsible. Arte Deco, his toucan friend has been with him since he was stranded
on an island so although not much interaction is shown, the two are obviously quite close, despite the teasing that goes on in-
between them. Gusto's reaction to Arte's 'death' in My Gummi Lies Over the Ocean, is heart touching.
Gusto is the artist of the Gummies. Starting when he was stranded on an island at about twelve, he carved a stone dragon
into the side of a volcano. Besides that, he painted an amazing portrait of Calla and Sunni that King Gregor himself declared the
work of a great artist. This Gummi is nearly obsessive when it comes to his art. He works when inspiration hits, no matter what
time or what he's doing. If he wants to sculpt a friend, no excuse is going to get them out of it. When the inspiration hits, the
artist works.
Gusto lives alone, in a waterfall, where he can keep his privacy and an inspiring view. After living alone for so many years
on the island, Gusto is not going to be restrained by rules. Believing them to be a waste of time, he is soon taught otherwise
in The World According to Gusto, when Cubbi spends one day with him. Not a strong upholder of the Gummi Way, Gusto
goes by his own mold.
Gusto is the dreamer. Being unrestrained, he is a carefree Gummi, leading a simple life. However, although he is carefree,
if one of his friends is in danger, he can become surprisingly serious. A Gummi who acts on impulse, Gusto is not a fool
but can instead use that gift to plan escapes or plans on a moment's notice. A favorite among the cubs, Gusto hardly calls
the others by their names, instead sticking to pet names, such as Sunners, Grufferoni, or Zum-Zum. Definitely a fun
Gummi who can be a great friend.
Like many other gummies, Gusto has a unique relationship with Gruffi. The Glen leader often sees Gusto as irresponsible
while Gusto sees Gruffi as uptight and too stern. Their personas clash immensely as Gruffi is organized and serious,
Gusto's impulsive and carefree. But different as they are, the two can work together....occasionally.
